Camera Gear

When I travel abroad, I only take one Nikon D7100 DSLR camera with me.  With my 17-50mm f/2.8 lens and my 50mm f/1.8 lens, I’m pretty sorted.

But when I go out on a job, travelling, and to make sure that I can cover the range of subjects I know I’ll encounter, I always carry two Nikon D7100 DSLR cameras, one with the 17-50mm f/2.8 lens and the other with a 70–200mm f/2.8 lens. I only carry the tripod, the 50mm f/1.8mm lense and my Yongnuo flash unit when I know I’ll need them for specific shots. I shoot all images in the raw file format.

I take the same gear on every trip and it consists of the following:

  • 2x Nikon D7100 camera bodies
  • Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens
  • Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 lens
  • Nikon 50mm f/1.8mm lens
  • Yongnuo YN560 II flash
  • Hoya HD UV filters (permanently attached to all lenses for protection)
  • Sirui T-1005x aluminum tripod with Velbon FHD-51QN aluminum tripod plate
  • 128GB, 64GB, and 16GB Extreme Pro Sandisk SD cards
